Why we need you: What you may not know is FM 98.5 CKWR is an independent, listener-supported radio station, not part of a large media conglomerate. With limited advertising, FM 98.5 CKWR depends upon its listeners’ generosity to continue its tradition of community excellence.
Your support also helps to purchase new equipment and upgrade existing equipment, which further enhances the quality of our on-air presentation. As well, your donation allows us to continue to bring to you an exceptional blend of daytime, specialty, and multicultural programs and the greatest music of all times.

Leave a Legacy of Community Radio
Many people support FM 98.5 CKWR through annual giving, but also want to leave additional funds through a bequest or legacy. Leaving a legacy is a unique opportunity to continue supporting community radio, especially the programs and music that you love. If you would like to name FM 98.5 CKWR as a beneficiary in your will, please consult a lawyer and/or notary.
Become a Volunteer
FM 98.5 CKWR’s history of volunteering dates back to its inception in 1973. Volunteers act in a number of capacities at the radio station, such as hosting or producing a show, serving on the Board of Directors, helping with fundraising campaigns and supporting administrative staff. Become a Member
As a community radio station, FM 98.5 CKWR welcomes new members. Your talent, enthusiasm, idea or energy may be just what is needed to help us to continue to move onwards and upwards. The membership fee is $40 for adults and $30 for students per year.
An annual general meeting is held each spring and a semi-annual meeting is held each fall, where members have an opportunity to take part in the decision-making of FM 98.5 CKWR. As a member, not only do you have voting privileges at these meetings, but you can also run for a position on the Board of Directors. As well, members have access to volunteer opportunities within the radio station and receive a regularly published newsletter.
