CKWR Always Lending a Helping Hand

Received: February 19, 2008

As a charitable organization, House of Friendship does not have much to spend on advertising and promotion. For that reason we greatly benefit from the Public Service Announcements provided by local radio stations like FM 98.5 CKWR. We often hear from our supporters that they heard about one of our events on CKWR. Your assistance in this way is greatly appreciated and is an important community service.

Development Director

"CKWR has been very helpful in bringing The City of Waterloo volunteer opportunities to the community. I would like to especially thank CKWR, Fred Merritt and your valued listeners for their ongoing support in building a great community."

"FM 98.5 CKWR is a tremendous community partner for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region and its member agencies. Your ongoing support through public service announcements, interviews and news coverage provide invaluable information to the community, raising awareness of the need for emergency food assistance in our community. Each year approximately 25,000 people need food assistance as a result of a variety of circumstances. Almost half of them are children.
Thank you on behalf of those in our community needing assistance."

Wendi Campbell, Executive Director, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Dear CKWR

"I would like to thank you so much for supporting the Sweet Adelines Singing Valentine Program again this year. Words cannot express our gratitude to all of you. Most of the responses this year came from the public hearing about us through you.
As you know, in our society today, so much is available out there that keeping Barbershop Music in the air is very difficult. Some of our members have been in the group since it started 48 years ago. We are now in a rebuilding stage and hope that we can recruit new members. Your support keeps us known to the public so that in turn we can continue to do the Public Service work we do. Once again, our sincerest thanks."

“On behalf of the Foodbank of Waterloo Region and the 65 member agencies and community food programs we support, thank you for your tremendous support of the 2005 Spring Food Drive. With your generous support, including valuable air-time for the broadcast of our spring Food Drive public service announcement and the weekly Friday morning interviews with the Food Bank, in addition to the timely and informative news coverage, FM 98.5 CKWR helped our community raise a total of 159,229 lbs. of food!”

Fred Lehmann, Former Public Relations Officer Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

“Thanks a million for the fantastic exposure provided to our show, which resulted in a full house and $9,000 (100% of the proceeds) for Tsunami relief. Karen Charles of the Red Cross was present last night, and will send this money to her agencies in all the affected areas in South East Asia. Your assistance was acknowledged at the show. Thank you, again. We are very grateful to you for your kindness and generosity. Please convey our special thanks to Fred Merritt for the interview.”

Horace Coelho, Public Relations & Media Support East Indian Clubs of Waterloo Region.

"On behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your incredible support during February. Heart Month was a tremendous success, and we had better, more comprehensive media coverage than ever before, which resulted in greater awareness and support of our campaigns. FM 98.5's generosity in supporting us through on-air interviews, as well as live and recorded announcements throughout the month, was fabulous! I cannot say enough about how much this meant to us in terms of getting our message out to the residents of the Waterloo Region.”

Erin Kellar, K-W Heart and Stroke Foundation

“The Waterloo Catholic District School Board musical theatre production of Les Misérables held at Centre in the Square, April 6-9, 2005, was a monumental success. The theatre was sold out for every show. The success of this production is a tribute to the talent and commitment of our students . . . and to our many media partners and sponsors. On behalf of the Waterloo Region Catholic Schools Foundation and the staff and students of the 27 schools involved in this production, I thank you and your company for your support. You helped us achieve our goals at the highest level and for this we are truly grateful.”

Vic Degutis, President Waterloo Region Catholic School Foundation.
